I'm a wrestling Fan and I LOVE this movie!!! The sad thing is, from what I hear...most wrestling fans hate this movie and consider it garbage. But they are mostly the impossible to please group of Smarks. Does anyone else think Jimmy King was a shoot on Jerry Lawler??

That's what I was thinking, a spinoff of The REAL King.
A drunk Jerry Lawler in a dress. now THAT would really be scary, and after the shock wears off- funny as hell.
I don't know if it was a shoot on Jerry Lawler. I mean, sure, physically the gait and lack of any physically intimidating characteristics is a dead ringer for the cryer of "puppies!" but I think the character could embody basically any wrestler who starts to "believe his own hype" if you will.
So, in a way, wrestling smarks might consider the King to be a warning for some of the Hulk Hogans or Goldbergs out there.
Anyway, all that being said, this movie is so freekin funny. I watched it with my brother on TV, caught it about 5 minutes in...by the end we were crying laughing. My older brother, who hates immature movies, was laughing his ass off. This movie is dumb but smart, if that makes sense.

This film is tremendous entertainment... in a "so bad, it's good" kinda way. However, I can't like it, as it led to David Arquette becoming WCW World Champion. For that reason, I will hate it forever.
shareDifference is, Jerry the King is actually a good wrestler. He's wrestled against the Best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, Bret Hart before. He also won the DSW title many times.
He's a much better wrestler than Jimmy King.
They should make a sequal with the WWE. That would be cool.

He should play goldbergs part, and ric flair should train platts part in the movie. Plus im a HHHUUUUGGGEEE wrestling fan and this is in my top 5

I love this movie and I am a wrestling fan and I also thought Jimmy King was a shoot on Jerry Lawler and I also thought where they screwed King at the begging of the movie was a shoot of the McMahon,Michaels,Screwjob in 1996 and Sinclair reminded me of a shoot off of Vince McMahon

"Ready To Rumble" was FUN. And I like fun movies.
I have been watching rasslin' on and off since I was seven years old. Amateur wrestling is a serious sport. That is wrestling. Opening up a can of whoop a$$ is RASSLIN'.
