sorry, rock and stone cold were legendary, driving over the rocks lincoln, coming in on a zamboni, throwing the belt off the bridge. wcw had nothing near it, sting? what the crap was that?

Gotta laugh at this one.

WCW was killing WWF for maybe a year or so. Then they kept rehashing Hogan and the NWO and its numerous incarnations all the while the WWE made new stars, better all around storylines and better stables.

WCW was good in 96/97 but they lost the rest of the way out to a superior product. Until of course that product got watered down in late 2001 (WWE that is)

"Up till around 2002"

The WCW was released from AOL/TimeWarner and got bought out in 2001....

WCW was special for about 1 year, from mid '96 (formation of the nWo) to mid-late '97, by which point the nWo thing was running on fumes and fans were hanging on to see the climax of the epic Hogan/Sting fued (which, incidentally, was botched). After, that, WWF quickly overtook them in the ratings. WCW made big money in '98 but that was spillover due to the epic year of '97, when Nitro was truly innovative and captivating. Starcade '97 should have been a "watershed" moment when things changed - nWo evolve into something different, guys like Benoit, Jericho, Giant, Guerrero, Mysterio, Wrath, Raven, etc, get their main event breaks, Sting hold the title for a while for WCW, give Bret Hart something to do, etc. Instead, they kept going down the same road with the nWo running roughshod over WCW, and the fans lost interest. Only Goldberg prevented the downfall from coming more quickly than it did.

As a side note, I could never really get into WWF(E). Just too gimmicky, too much "show", with wrestling as a backdrop (no pun intended)....

wcw was always worse then wwf. The only reason they won in the ratings was because of hogan

No that wasn't the only reason. WCW also had Ric Flair and Macho man who were just as popular as Hogan. Hogan was just the biggest babyface at that time. Flair was the biggest Heel. WCW also had the crusierweight division that was very popular, they had a very talented Midcard roster with the likes of a young Booker T, Finley, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, DDP, Raven, etc. No it wasn't just Hogan. He was just a huge part of it.

I thought that WCW was awesome from '96 to 2000. The Wolfpac was an awesome stable, Goldberg was kickin' ass, and Hogan went back to the red and yellow.
By the way, I'd rather watch WCW on its last legs than watch WWE now. (you know that's saying alot.)

If you look at the ratings breakdown Ric Flair was always getting the highest ratings. Even bigger than Hulk Hogan & the nWo.
To say the only reason they won in the ratings was because of Hogan is completely false. Hogan's first two and a half years with the company before the nWo came to be were also unsuccessful in the ratings compared to the WWF.
