WCW sucked
this movie didn't ruin it. WCW simply couldn't hang with WWF. In fact, the worst thing that the WWF ever did was put WCW out of business and merge.

shareThe WWF was better when it kicked off the Attitude era in 1998, but from '96-'98 WCW was kickin' ass with original and mostly better storylines, the nWo, great technical wrestlers and awesome cruiserweights.
Overall, WWF was better but WCW NEVER sucked!
The main reason WCW sucked near the end was because *beep* like Hogan constantly used there "Creative Control" to make sure they never lost a match to any of the members of the new blood. Hell, Hogan was the main reason of this because his storyline with Billy Kidman was one of the main storylines and he would not job to him at all. Hogan also tried to pull this in the WWE in 2002 but Vince wouldn't have it.
shareWCW certainly had many problems. Making arquette champ, the lame ass storyline's of Russo (and I can't even remember the other guy's name), not promoting up and coming talent, amongst other things. And yeah, WWE has had a longer string of sucess, but in it's peak WCW's stuff was easily as good as if not better than WWF's.
Wrestling as at it's best when there was actual competition. The Monday Night Wars made for some great entertainment. Vinny Mac officially put the nail in the coffin when he started to buy all his competition though. That finalized it.
I forget how it all started though. I know Bash and the Beach 2000 was the official "last straw" and began the true downfall, but who was to blame? Bischoff or Russo? I forget.
From what I remember Hogan refused to lose to Jarret, so Jarret/Russo came up with the idea of Jarret laying down. Hogan then did a shoot on Russo and Russo then did the same back right?
Hogan didn't RUIN WCW...
Hulk Hogan CREATED WCW. It was his presence that got them Nitro. Bischoff and Hogan created the NWO together and the fact that he held the title for so long lent WCW the needed credibility to sign the WWF stars over like Bret Hart, Macho Man Randy Savage, Hall and Nash, Syxxpac... the core guys!!!
No one had even heard of the wrestlers before Hogan showed up! Hogan MADE WCW, So EVEN if it was him that destroyed it, it was his to destroy!
He could've singlehandedly closed it if he wanted to by going to the WWF. Jeff Jarrett should've just made Hogan look like a god, better for WCW. Russo should've started a new clique with Hogan as the head honchos and everyone should've lined up to lose to him. Jarrett isn't even close as technical as Hogan, I mean that in his style not his technique.
Whatever, I'm not a Hogan fanboy, I hate the guy. But he was in movies, he brought the fans, and no one gives him his due respect. Whatever, you're all movie fans. I'm the true wrestling fan here. Nuff' said.
WcW had a few good things...Jericho, Mysterio, Benoit, Eddie Booker and thats about it.
R.I.P Heath Ledger
WCW from mid '96 to mid '98 was the greatest wrestling promotion of all time, before they got stale and beat the nWo formula to death. It had good technical wrestling, good storylines and no retarded "sports entertainment" like strippers, grown men pretending to be zombies and chocking each other with socks. My favorites were Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Sting, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Raven, and the whole cruiserweight division.
I hope that TNA can recapture some of that magic. Its gonna take time though.

You're right about one thing, Hogan did put WCW on the map from the time he debuted their through 1997. But I disagree that he had the right to refuse to put anybody else over when his time was clearly past . If you knew anything about WCW from 1998-2000, You'd know that they had one of the most talented rosters his professional wrestling history. Booker T, Curt Henning, The Giant, Chris Jericho, Raven, Chris Benoit, Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Sting, Rick Steiner, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Diamond Dallas Page, and Buff Bagwell. Had Hogan went back to the WWF and all those guys stayed the main event in WCW would have been 10 times better in those years.
WCW during it's early days when it was JCP/Mid-Atlantic NWA when the Crockett family(Jim,Sr. Jim,Jr. or "Jimmy" and David) had owned the company to even when Ted Turner first bought the company and it was changed to WCW in 1988 to 1995, was some classic wrestling. But WCW during the "Monday Night War" era, in my opinion, was complete GARBAGE no matter if they did better business than the WWF within 1996-1998. And the reasons why WCW was garbage during that time was because of the disorganization that plagued the company and Eric Bischoff's overspending/wasting of Ted Turner's money. Sure, Hulk Hogan helped the company become better than the WWF at that time but he basically controlled what could and couldn't be done and he became praised more than Ric Flair who had been in WCW since it was the Mid-Atlantic NWA(and sure, Flair also had some good runs in the WWF/WWE as well). And although it looked like Hogan was backing up Bischoff in trying to destroy the WWF, in actuality, he was still secretly loyal to Vince McMahon and the WWF. Both Bischoff and Ted Turner had used Hogan as the tool to destroy the WWF but failed because of Hogan's "secret loyalty" to the WWF. But when it came to Vince McMahon destroying WCW, the wrestler that he used as a tool to destroy WCW was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. And since Vince fed on Austin's bitterness towards WCW after being fired from that company in 1994, he succeeded. One theory I have to who the person was who got Steve Austin fired from WCW was none other than Hulk Hogan. But if he did, he did Austin a favor for which he had a way better career in the WWF than he would've had if he stayed in WCW. And another theory I have is that I believe it was Eric Bischoff who is really responsible for the "Montreal Screwjob." If he hadn't gone after Bret Hart like he did just to complete the "wrestling show" that WCW was, I don't think Vince McMahon wouldn't have been forced to screw Bret Hart the way he did at the 1997 Survivor Series in Montreal, Canada. The way I see it, WCW was and will always be "second place" to the WWF/WWE even if they nearly put the WWF out of business in the late 1990's.
