Ever since I first saw this movie on Hbo in the 5th grade it has been one of my all time favorites.
Great music and characters you care about and relate to are just two of the reasons i love this film.
I also love the world the film creates and what a portrait the film is of the time it was released. This movie will always be special.

Gosh, totally agree with you.
This movie came out a year or so before i headed out to college myself. Back then, the association of American Pie and Jason Biggs was too strong, so the movie didn't really gel with me back then.

But watching it 12 years later, seeing how my home town was portrayed... I actually got nostalgic. Except for the clothes and the hair the guys had... Yeah, some kids did dress up like that - it was ridiculous then, its ridiculous now.
Overall, I think, even with its shortcomings - this movie is underrated.

True very underrated. A lot of people didn't see all of the good in it.

Yeah, me and my best friend at the time saw it in the movies over and over. Every time I watch it I think of him. It was awkward though cause he was into me, and I wasn't into him. But I do love the movie.

I love watching this movie! I had a horrible time in college- no friends, I got made fun of, took 28 credits so I had no time for a job and thus I had no money.. I got picked on for being uncool or myself by my classmates and because I didn't want to party and teachers picked on me in turn causing me to have trouble with homework cause they wouldn't help.

I watch it cause it gives me a sense of knowing there were others at the same time as me and will always be others who suffer in college, too!

Other than the education, I regret having gone to college- I wasted three years of my life being miserable, poor, having to take loans for food, and now I owe 16K and I barely make enough to pay it off! :/

Yea Starchild and others, this movie does bring us right back to where we were when we first saw it and the reminds us atmosphere of the era as well. And it reminds us all of similar situations we've been in and related experiences we have had like the ones portrayed in the film.
That's why it is a truly memorable film.

I was always dissapointed that the spectacular soundtrack that was a great portrait in time of a great era for music was never released. I remember it was my fav movie for a number of years and I had to search frantically for the dvd because it was out of print at the time when I was in middle school and movie obsessed. I remember when the wheatus music video of teanage dirtbag premiered in the spring of 2000. It was before school one morning my 3rd grade year haha. Still my favorite video!

Truly underrated. This is a wonderful little film. I don't understand why it has received so much critical panning though. Oh well, *beep* em.
