On US DVD

Does anyone know how or where I can purchase a copy of this film on either a VHS or a DVD that will play on an American DVD Player?

reply

Buy it from Australia but make sure your DVD player or VHS player is PAL compatible (that's the format we use in OZ), my dvd player is NTSC compatible and i can purchase and have purchased dvd's from america that play on my player.
Hope this info was useful to you and this is a good Australian site to purchase the dvd.
www.ezydvd.com.au - they ship internationally for a charge or $9.00 or something like that, they also have an international currency converter so you will be able to see how much it will cost you is $US

Enjoy

Hi
I would just suggest going to ezydvd.com.au as the other guy did, I don't know how it is in the US but here we can pick up a multi-region DVD player for under $100. Or to get it on VHS go to www.vidzofoz.com.au or in a stretch perhaps try amazon.co.uk, anyway I think a video would work there as most new tvs (last 10 yrs+) are multi format (eg. Pal, NTSC etc) and VHS players usually are too. But ofcoarse check first.
Hope i could help.

what should i do if my dvd player doesnt accept the pal format? is there any version sold in america?

reply

I really wouldn't worry about the format so much. I've had 3 DVD players, and all of them played both formats (and I didn't pay any attention to compatibility when I bought them). I've also got a no-name TV, and haven't had any problems with that either.

As for where to buy it - I'd suggest searching eBay, if you don't want to import it from overseas. I got it on eBay in Germany (where I live), so I'm sure it'll show up at ebay.com sooner or later as well...

back to the original topic...

I dont know if you have a JB Hi-Fi stores in America (i think they might be in AUS ony)but they can get you absolutely any DVD that has ever been made anywhere in the world. You could go to a Hi-Fi store in America and ask if they can order it for you.

hope that helps

It was a quote from Terminator 2...i've since changed as i got too many people asking what happened on that date lol.

Has it ever occured to you that maybe your not too big? Maybe this place is just too small?

reply

I love JB Hi-Fi, I visited Australia a year ago and spent near $300 on DVDs and CDs in two trips to the Sydney store. I don't know of any in the US, and the website is a little tough to navigate. I used Ezydvd.com.au for my stuff, ebay for if it will end up cheaper.

For those who want to know about region free dvd players, look for your specific model here

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?dvdplayer=&listall=List+All+Alphabetical

to see if you can "hack" your player to region free. Or you can check your local store models and see if any of theirs are on the list (I prefer the remote control button hacks over the "burn a firmware cd" method). My cheap $50 DVD player was actually already set to region free when I bought it (I knew I could hack it, and went through the process to find it was already good to go).

Was this movie ever shown in the US (ie. Cable TV, Film Fest or anything like that?)

reply

I only saw it when my local big theater (Rafael Film Centre, they play the independent stuff) had an Australian film roadshow back in July 2005, this was one of the five films.

reply

Ya, I live in California and it was shown on the Bravo channel, Mplex channel, or Starz network years ago. I can't remember which channel exactly but it definitely was aired in the US before.
