... Was the mob killing black people at the end? Jeses, I may have felt bad for them when the mob was put down at the end if they hadn't been shown lynching and murdering every black person in sight.

Many of the Irish felt that war was making their situation worse. They blamed the blacks because they were going to fight for them to get their freedom while many of the Irish were going home in caskets or with missing limbs.

that wasn't the sole intention of the mob. there were some who got carried away in the mayhem and let their anger and frustration take control

IN reality, during the Draft Riots, the Irish gangs attacks blacks on the streets. The worst atrocity was when an Irish gang attacked a black orphanage.

The movie sort of whitewashes that aspect of the riots.
