Editings terrible

Im no film critic. But the fight scene at the beginning of the movie, watch it several times and you will see several characters hitting the same character, just at a different angle. Also if you notice, Priest Vallon, gets hit in the left arm with a scyth like device, but look quickly, I guess we weren't supposed to see that. But anyway its a 30 second fight, than ends up being 2 minutes just because there are different camera angles that make the fight look longer. But indeed after several views, you will start to see several characters get hit twice in the same fashion and even get killed. Toodles

There's even a continuity error near the end. During the mob riots on the docks we see Jenny hauling herself up on what looks to be a crate and the very next scene we see her crawling towards the same crate she had just previously dragged herself up against.

It's true. I understand editing goofs happen in most movies but this was a blatant example of poor editing, continuity, or whatever it's called. Still an excellent movie.

**Edited: After reading other threads about this topic, I must take my comments back. I had no idea it was intentional on Scorsese's part and that it is a particular style of film-making .

The scene is seen through the eyes of a scared child. All emotions and violence is magnified and drawn out.

Scene for scene,Schoonmakers editing is brilliant...it´s just too obvious that this film was trimmed down,(from 4hrs,30min,Would LOVE to see that!)leaving gaps in the story and the vision incomplete.
