Everyone is shooting these weird laser guns but driving 90s cars that make wooshing sounds.

Not to mention the artificially trashed "old" New Beetle the beanie guy was driving.

Back To The Future Part 2 was guilty of this, too. Among the one-off "futuristic" cars of 2015 the producers borrowed from other movies was an 80's car (Chevy, I think) driven by Griff, all trashed out.
