Amazing

It's really quite amazing to me that the Soviets who invaded 5 countries (including Poland on September 17, 1941) and committed many atrocities like the Katyn Forrest massacre of 25,000 polish officers in 1940 can be portrayed sympathetically. Stalin was just as big a monster than Hitler

Are you equally amazed by, let's say, Sam Peckinpah's Cross of Iron?

including Poland on September 17, 1941

I think you should brush up on history.

Sure, Stalin was a monster. But, the Russian soldiers and the Russian people were just ordinary people trying to defend their homeland. Vasily was just a common man who had an uncommon skill. There is no reason to hate the Russian people, just the Russian leadership. The same could be said about almost any country in the world. Seven billion people on this planet just want to live their lives in peace and harmony. But, we have a few million asshats that ruin it for everyone.
