Newcomer to the show, just finished season 1 and I have a couple of questions. Does Gohan's mum get less annoying? I'm just refusing to learn her name or watch any more at the moment because I just really want every character to tell her to *beep* off. And also does Bulma stop being a complete tool as well?

Must be 2 of the most annoying characters ever created and I just don't get why these all powerful fighters put up with them when they contribute either little or nothing, especially Mrs Goku. She's either gotta die or just decide to go away to another planet or something.

Welcome to the eccentric world of DBZ, where the women are just as tough and eccentric as the men are!

It all goes back to Dragon Ball, the prequel to DBZ. Bulma was on a quest to use the Dragon Balls for her own gain, which eventually got siderracked when she met Yamcha (and Piccolo and Pilaf's interventions also complicated stuff).

As for Chi-Chi (Goku's wife, Gohan's mom), when they were kids Goku had promised to marry her; she learnt later on that he had no idea what a wedding was, and got into a fight with him and got knocked out. He still agreed to marry her, much to her happiness... but now she has to deal with Goku and Gohan being superpowered fighters while she is, comparatively, saner than them and wants a normal life.

Still, if you find them annoying that's your own opinion.

Bulma has her annoying moments, but she's also a genius scientists who contributes and helps out the fighters a LOT throughout the series.

Bulma is annoying up to the Frieza saga. Once that is over she is just fine and tolerable.

Chi-Chi isn't around much.

You'd think a guy like Vegeta would kill Bulma.
