Final Fantasy VII remake announced!
Finally! *beep* finally! We've talked about it here, many years ago and now it is finally real.
There was no game I wanted more than that one. There's no game I think I'd prefer to that one

I would have messaged you but I figured you were sleeping!

Nah I stopped up to watch it. I'd heard a rumour of it being there but I waved it off because it's happened so many times before.
But then when he hyped up that Square game I was getting my hopes up and it just ended up being that cutesy game and I was ready to rage.
Then they went and showed it and I just couldn't believe it. After all these years, all the teasing, all the E3's and TGS's where I've hoped it'd be announced and I got let down, it's finally happened.
I'm just over the moon.
It probably won't release for a while.

*beep* if it takes a year or two so be it. If I had a guess though, they've started on it awhile back. I'm sure it wasn't just thought up the other week just to be announced now. I'd say a lot of the game is probably even done. Point is, I don't care how long it takes but now that it's official, I got something to look forward to.
One thing that worries me is that over the years, RPG's have evolved in the way of the fighting system and turn based attacks like 7 might not hold over as well. I'm not expecting a Skyrim type system but it will need to be updated to reflect this new age.
Now all we need is Shenmue and my childhood will be complete.
I'd hope they wouldn't make the same mistake they did with Final Fantasy XV and announced a game that they had no intention of releasing for years.
That does annoy me about video games. They announce and show off trailers for games way too far in advance. MGSV had trailers back in 2012.
If they know it's not going to be released within a year then I'd say don't show a trailer for it.
Also Shenmue smashed it's kickstarter goal in just 9 hours. I never played those though.
I'd imagine 2017 at the earliest.

The Kingdom Hearts system is pretty popular. Perhaps make it like, except give you the ability to control your characters at any moment. One thing is certain: The pure turn based strategy system is too outdated for them to reuse. Gone are the days where peple are actually willing to tolerate random encounters and having little to no control over their characters during combat.

The overhead world map is also very dated. I'd hope they'd have something more like Final Fantasy XV where it's one huge connected map full of detail.
I don't mind them making changes and modernising parts of the game but it's important that it is still going to feel like Final Fantasy VII. I don't make them to make it all serious, I still want the cross dressing Cloud.
You missed out on Shenmue man. It was one of those games that was ahead of it's time. From what I read, the games is basically just going to HD with PS4 graphics. Basically it's the same game on a new system. Hopefully that's not the case. Like P-E said though, things like the walking around and random fights will definitely have to go. If they could combine elements of skyrim with this, it would be epic.
shareI never had a Dreamcast, nobody I knew ever had one. They've always said that Yakuza was sort of a spiritual successor to Shenmue and I am a fan of those games.
I watched a review for it yesterday and it really does look like an older version of Yakuza. People have always asked about Shenmue 3 but people don't seem to care much about Yakuza, odd.
