Who would win and why?
I think in terms of sheer power, Gohan is stronger. But Goku is obviously the better fighter. If Goku could keep Gohan calm, he could eventually outsmart him for the win. But if Goku at any point pissed Gohan off, the fight could be over shortly after.

Gohan would win, he was stronger than Super Buu who Goku knew he was weaker than.
More importantly though is that Gohan can maintain that power whereas Goku can only keep SSJ3 up for a few minutes.
Gohan without question. SS3 is extremely powerful but the form uses up energy very fast. Gohan is already stronger mystic, and does NOT lose energy quickly like someone in SS3 form.

It's not called Mystic Gohan the official name is Ultimate Gohan.
Its been that way since 2005 and remembered in 2007 by Budokai Tenkaichi 3
....Ultimate Gohan lent his energy to the spirit bomb to kill Kid Buu and it did not succeed... Do what you will with that info.
shareI remember seeing this post up 10-years ago in 2005. I can't believe it's been 10-years. While Gohan seemed stronger physically, Gohan doesn't have what Goku has in his need to win. Goku is the better fighter and can win a fight that Gohan can't. Goku also won the fight against Kid Buu. So, Gohan would have the advantage but Goku would figure out how to win.
shareGoku can get him off guard with a warp kamehameha. Current Goku is stronger than Gohan outright, so there's no debate. Gohan can't even hang with Frieza anymore.

Even Vegito (from DBZ) couldn't hang with Frieza anymore.
Current Gohan has weakened considerably, he's lost his Mystic powers.
I dunno about that. I think SSJ3 Vegito would effortlessly crush Frieza. No way to know for sure though.

It depends on which form of Frieza.
Going by Battle of Gods, SSJGod Goku was stronger than SSJ3 Vegito. The new movie doesn't really give any indication of how much stronger this SSGSS form is supposed to be but Golden Freeza was initially stronger than it.
He does lose power quickly but as long as he didn't hang about (which he probably would) then he'd win.
Ss3 goku would hold his own but he cant maintain power for the long duration of the fight. Mystic gohan wins.
