The Hyperbolic Time Chamber

Did that thing exist before the androids?

If so, why didn't the Z-Fighters just use that to train in preparation for the saiyans?

reply

I believe it was suppose to exist, but perhaps they didn't think they were strong enough to survive the training.

When the saiyans came they used that virtual reality type of room. I think that room was used in DB too.

The Hyperbolic Time Chamber was supposed to have existed. Goku was supposed to have been there when he was a kid, and didn't last a month, we see Goku at Kami's lookout in DragonBall, but no hyperbolic time chamber.

While the time chamber was well thought out. It's weird how it wasn't mentioned prior, and how the characters trained for 3-years before the Androids, but Goku didn't consider going to the time chamber to train. The characters also didn't train hear about the time chamber when they were training for the Saiyans.

An argument could be made for using it for the Saiyans but I understood with the Androids. They had three years to get ready not to mention that they had to get a huge dose of confidence knowing that Goku would be around to help instead of dying in the alternate timeline.

Goku actually clears everything up for me in the Buu saga when Picollo suggests using the time chamber to help the boys train. Goku points out how it can only be used twice in a lifetime and that he feels they will need it again in the future.

Basically it's a last resort and should only be used when there's almost no time left.

Also, when Goku trains Gohan in the chamber in preparation for Cell... he mentions that he trained in there.

He points out the absolute nothingness and void... and states that is the reason he couldn't handle being there when he was young

reply

I don't see how those are obstacles. It's basically just regular with the benefit of more time.

reply

Wasn't saying they are necessarily obstacles. If anything, they are mental obstacles that would plague the psyche of a child.

Goku mentions training there by himself and says it's the reason he couldn't handle being there by himself.

Try watching the show in succession. You would realize it is rather repetitive and poorly written in parts. I enjoy the show... but it wasn't written to have flawless continuity

I noticed there are a lot of inconstancies.

It's just strange that before Goku mentions it after recovering from the heart virus, it wasn't mentioned prior during the times they were in the lookout. There was the Pendulum Room, Room Of Time Goku goes in when he was a kid and later Yamcha, Chiaotzu, Tien, and Krillin would go in when they were there. But, I think the hyperbolic time chamber was just Toriyama all of a sudden coming up with a plot for the characters to train.
