Namak question
Are nameks sentient plants? They don't eat and only drink water. They regrow parts of themselves, etc. I've been rewatching Farscape and remembered Zaan was a plant and it got me thinking.

Namekians were portrayed differently in Dragonball as Demons. Piccolo spit out Drum and Tambourine which look different from him and other Namekians. Piano even gets people to cook for King Piccolo, when Namekians don't eat.
Basically, in DragonBall Z Piccolo and Goku's race was mysticism. But, in DragonBall Z their origins are explained from being from different planets. The Namekians seem like a peaceful people on Namek, so it's hard to believe that King Piccolo was a demon when you compare him to the other Namekians. It's story writing really.
Also, from what I just read on the Internet. Akira Toriyama stated that Namekians aren't plants.
