shareYes.
I never really liked the ending to DRAGON BALL Z. Goku just up and leaves, insisting on moving to Uub's village to train him.
I'm fine with the idea of Goku offering to train Uub, but it seems a bit overboard to leave his friends and family, not to mention push Uub into this huge responsibility.
DRAGON BALL GT is set seven years later I think, and Goku finally returns home. Not that his training of Uub made much difference.

Yeah, I completely agree,I hated the way he just up and left everyone without really saying goodbye, he didn't even care that his granddaughter was crying over him . Really made me dislike Goku:(
shareYeah, while DragonBall Z is an entertaining show it seems like most of us don't like the ending and it shows one of the flaws of the series. Yes, it is supposed to be canon as it was in the manga, and it also seemed like Toriyama just wanted to end the series, but have us imagine what would happen next.
Here is the problem with the ending. After 291 episodes of DragonBall Z, and lots of episodes of DragonBall we get introduced to a new character Uub who is the reincarnation of Buu at the tournament. Uub is like a 10-year old kid and he comes from a poor village, similar to a character Goku fought against in DragonBall. Uub isn't really a likable character, he seems annoying and he's a scared kid who Goku powers up by insulting, and he puts on an interesting fight with Goku. But, Goku decides all of a sudden to leave his family and the characters he's known throughout the series to live in a village and train a new character he just meets that we don't care about. Yeah, the ending definitely sucks and seems like it wasn't well thought out. It would have been more interesting if we saw an ending of Gohan marrying Videl as that's how DragonBall ended with Goku marrying Chichi.
Also, it seems like Toriyama doesn't care for Uub, because we have DragonBall Super and these couple of movies where Uub isn't a character.

If Toriyama wanted to, he could have made the films take place after DragonBall Z ended. He also could have had Uub make a cameo in these movies if he had them in the proper timeline, but not where Goku meets him. It seems apparent that Uub isn't a character who Toriyama thinks that much about when he's the focus at the end of the series.
shareI think the Dragon Ball Z ending would've been much better if the series had not jumped to 10 years after time and, Uub had not been introduced. Its because Goku leaving his friends and family leaves a sudden sullen impact on the happy ending which DBZ was supposed to have. Viewers would've liked to see a more comic ending such as Gohan getting married to Videl after 6 months ,and Goku vowing to keep geting stronger alongside Vegeta, since finally they had become friends.
Had this been the ending, 'Dragon Ball Super' would've got a strong recap without any unnecessary stuff, such as Dragon Ball GT, to think about.
