Ben Affleck tried to shoot open the hatch on his plane, but when he does crash into the ocean and push it open, the bullet holes are gone.

I watched the movie yesterday. What I observed was that when his plane crashed, you still could see the sun, when he managed to escape from the plane it was already pretty dark.

Its not a goof. Those kind of planes were able to self repair bullet holes in flight

PH was a big a deal (anecdote) in history, the director planting a "goof" like that in a serious subject matter movie is of ill-taste
