You can 'assume'??????? Did you watch this movie?

If you dint want him dead, why yall leave him with me?-Mouse

reply

Well they never actually say and it's only implied, greatly.

But anyway, did you see the picture of the guy that mutiliated his face, in the same fashion as Verger? He was on drugs, broke a mirror, cut his face off and fed them to dogs, much Mason Verger.

reply

“No, I can still see it...”

Angel Dust = PCP

reply

Oh my mistake, for some reason I thought it said meth.

I didn't know drugs were powerful enough to convince people to do such a thing to themselves. I mean I do crazy stuff when I'm blind drunk, but even if I was on powerful drugs I doubt I would do anything to harm myself that badly. I mean what was he thinking he was doing to himself?

reply

Haha well I think someone being intoxicated and someone being high on PCP are two totally different stories.
But yeah that story may not be true, however that photo is very real.

I posted it because the scenario presented on that website was very similar to Mason's predicament.

As for having drugs being so powerful to manipulate people to cut off their faces? I'd say to that: It's just a movie.

Where did you get "pedo" from? The guy was gay. No where did it mention that he molested children.

Verger mentions it to Starling.

Actually, Hannibal said something to the effect of: ''Show me that smile you used to seduce children''. And Verger talks about ''Kids who would do anything for a candybar'' to Clarice.

So yeah. Pedo. It also causes the audience to lose any sympathy for him right off the bat and actually root for Lecter.

reply

Thank you so much for clarifying this! I too thought that he wasn't a pedo because I didn't catch that first line, ''Show me that smile you used to seduce children''. Hell yeah that changes the game completely. No wonder Cordell dumped that sicko into the pig pen!

By the way, if any of you haven't gotten into Hannibal the tv show....you need to start watching ASAP! The way they've depicted Mason's character is just brilliant. They've taken concepts within the movies and flourished them to a whole new level. I can't get enough :)

reply

Verger absolutely abused children, including raping his own sister. You need to read the books to gather the full backstory.

reply

Well, that would help yes, but you don't even have to do that. The movie talked about it in the very beginning. The actual quote I believe was "show me how you smile to gain a child's trust," rather than him using the word seduce.

reply

In the book he was a HORRENDOUS pedo! Although I just watched a documentary about a priest who is currently living in Ireland who literally RAPED a baby. There are no words for a monster piece of garbage like that. And he is being protected by the Catholic Church. Thank God I'm an atheist, religion is poison.

I am assuming that most of us on this board watch the Hannibal tv show. For those that do not the actual lead up to Mason cutting his face off makes a little more sense. For those that do not watch basically when Mason was a kid his dad showed him how he tested the fat on pigs but sticking them with knives. Basically as a torture. When Mason is flying on whatever Hannibal gives him Hannibal says he wants him to think back to that time then gives him a knife and asks him to demonstrate how Mason's papa would check the depth of a pig's fat. As this is going on Mason is hallucinating that dogs walking around in front of him are pigs so he attempts to cut one but Hannibal tells hims to demonstrate on his self. The thing is it cuts the scene so you never get to see the dialogue when Hannibal told Mason to feed his face to the dog's like in the movie and book. The scene cuts and then when it comes back Mason has already done most of the cutting and is feeding meat strips to the dogs. I personally thought they should have included the whole scenario from the book and movie with Mason showing Hannibal his sex torture devices then doing the thing where he tries to hang himself. Actually that scenario could have been included before Hannibal talks to him about testing the pig's fat but since the scene I guess needed to have Will's dog's involved he had to be at Will's house instead of Mason's own where the sex noose would have been. Just thought that whole scene would have been cool especially since I can totally see Michale Pitt doing that bit with all the weird or sexual type things he has done in his movies.

Angel dust is a powerful drug. It's basically a morphine, as it was used in the hospitals. The drug is so powerful that you're not able to feel any sort of pain until after the drug has worn off. So it's not unbelievable that someone would cut his own face off because he wouldn't feel any sort of pain.
