what´s up with Julianne Moore

I like her but in this movie she is so lifeless...in the end when she´s drugged by Dr. Lector she doesn´t seem to acted much different then the rest of the movie? does anyone has a same opinion?

Like I said I like her but I don´t feel any affection towards her version of Clarice:)

I get what you mean; her acting in this one seems a bit "off" to me, maybe more stiff than I'd like to see. She more than likely, guessing here, is trying to stay in line with what Jodie Foster set for the character and trying to make the character as seamless as possible. Jodie captured the character well and certainly "fit" the character, in a way that Julianne wasn't able to.

Both are fantastic and I adore both, but just two different styles for a shared character.

I don´t know. I´m not hating on her NO WAY!
Just sometimes when I felt Starling would express more emotion she didn´t and Jodie didn´t make her tough and emotionless...Like in scenes where she gets a letter from Lecter or when she sees him on the tape...nothing basically

But thing that came to my mind and it´s hard to imagine Jodie in this film, but just imagine how impactful would it be if she returned.

Kudos to Julianne for trying to make Clarice her own though...

She's dead inside.

I finally saw it last night for the first time and I couldn't agree more. Jodie was brilliant in SOTL and it was great film acting, so layered under the surface and you totally got that Clarice was so earnestly trying to prove herself & kind of a rung higher than her capacity. Julianne Moore, who I normally like was just completely flat and wooden in this as if she was just going thru the motions. Her character seemed shockingly detatched and bored thru the entire thing. She was completely lifeless. Moore obviously did this for the paycheck and just walked thru the entire thing. If Jodie passed, they could've at least got an actress who was hungry.

Well I meant the character, Clarice is dead inside.

OP, totally. It would be awesome to see what Jodie would have done in the sequel; Julianne definitly went thru the motions, thats a great way to put it; it has always felt a bit off having her in this role, in an otherwise solid sequel (though it has it's moments of, eh).
