continuity with In the Mood for Love
I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually like this film better than In the Mood for Love. I found the latter slow and uneventful, whereas this was slow in a more poetic and meaningful way, I felt.
One thing that does bother me a little though, is how there is no mention of Chow Mo-wan's estranged spouse. I get that she doesn't matter anymore in Chow's mind, but I do find it strange how there's no reference at any point to the fact that he was once married (and probably still is, just separated).
It's the one place where I feel the continuity seems a bit loose. I get that this is a very subjective film, set largely inside Chow Mo-wan's world, but I feel like even someone as tormented by his lost love as him, would probably still remember his missing wife in some capacity.
I don't know, am I the only one bothered by this notable exclusion from the film's script?
