I was wondering if anyone has any insights into the origins of the story that gets told in the film about cutting a hole in a tree and whispering your secrets into it. Is this a real Chinese myth? Something invented for the film? Does anyone know?
shareAs far as I can tell it is a real Chinese myth, though I'm not really sure.
The true significance for this film is that it follows on from in the mood for love. I don't want to spoil the previous film, so you should really watch it to see how it ties in.
But it explains in 2046 what the myth is because the two lovers in the 2047 novel represent the love affair he had in the first movie.
