I don't understand what this film is about!

Ok I just saw this, and still don't understand what this is about.

Is this a sci fi film where someone goes into another dimension or time travels into the past? It's not clearly explained what all this is about or what 2046 means. Is this all a dream or a case of time travel from the future? How did it all happen?

Can anyone elaborate?

Also, why did that stupid gambling man treat that super hot perfect Chinese girl like crap and let her go to Singapore like he didn't even care? She wanted to commit to him and be with him. I would have married her. She was a 10! Was he frickin insane? This is too unbelievable. He didn't even make love to her at the end when she asked him to. That was stupid. No man in the world could have resisted her. All he did was say something about never lending something to anyone, and then left, whatever that meant.

What a dumb flat ending.

Watch In the Mood for Love first...2046 will be a lot easier to understand then.

I could explain it in 10 hollow sentences but watching both films together would make you feel empathy and have a deeper understanding of the characters,something i can't do for you ;)

If you can't understand the film after watching both,post in this thread again and i'll give my best to help.

The main character loses his wife and mistress in "In The Mood For Love".

His character turns into a hurt womaniser in "2046" that writes stories for a living. The sci-fi plot is one of his many stories based on his own experience with love and heartbreak.
