shareNot sure what you mean. The film was immensely popular with critics and audiences a like. The people who do not like it are in the minority and I happen to be one of them.

I agree! I think this is one of the great films of the last 25 years -- and Wong's masterpiece -- but most people still don't know about it. Sometimes I wonder, with all of the clutter out there, if a great piece of cinema like this actually can get noticed...especially several years after its release. But I have hope that the masses will come around to great cinema again, and will be willing to re-explore films of the past. And if they happens, this film will definitely get its due.
shareI think part of the problem is that to get the full effect, one must see In the Mood for Love as well, preferably before seeing 2046.
I do think that among Wong Kar Wai fans who have seen all (or nearly all) his movies, many consider 2046 to be his masterpiece, even if they also agree it's his most flawed movie as well, just because the themes he deals with in nearly all of his movies are the most emotionally devastating in 2046.
