Missed opportunity.

They needed a hot older teen sister instead of Francis.

They could have even used the same name.

Sadly if Malcolm in the Middle were made today one of the kids would probably be a girl. No thought would be given to the fact the creators and writers were drawing from experience and maybe they grew up in a household of all boys. Same thing would happen to Home Improvement.

too whiny, constant mom drama he creates, mom caused all my woes, I'm a victim - not exactly man stuff... (not an insult to teen girls.)
