I love it too. Although I don't understand the scene with the tape the old man puts on his TV. The baby swimming and the peg-legged man dancing? Then the little wink through the window? Maybe I missed something, My wife kept talking to me.

All I can think of about this scene is that the old man never went outside. He was missing a lot of wonderful things that happen outside of his hermit life. Amelie was just showing him some cool things that happen in the real world.
