Annoying little things in movies

In the beginning of "Amelie," she mentions that when she's watching a film,
it irritates her when the actor driving a car in the film doesn't keep his/her
eyes on the road, but usually spends more time looking and conversing with the
person in the passenger seat, spoiling the illusion that the actor is really
driving. What little things like that irritate you in movies?

For instance, while I have the same pet peeve about driving actors as Amelie,
I'm also bugged by:

Inappropriate accents in films: In "Gone with the Wind," why does Ashley
Wilkes, the consummate Southern gentleman, have an English accent? In "Mrs.
Miniver," meanwhile, why doesn't Englishman Mr. Miniver have one?

In "Back to the Future," the entire town is meticulously done over in
1950s sets, furniture, cars, fashions, etc. Yet in the present-day finale,
Marty's dad, a highly successful science-fiction author, shows off his latest
book, just released by the publisher. The dust jacket of the book looks
amateurish! This is true of other films, such as "Throw Momma From the Train,"
which depict authors and their books. If the set designers, etc. could spend
so much effort making the sets, costumes, etc. as realistic as possible, couldn't they make the cover of a book look like it was professionally done?

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

I understand the reasons for all the "short cut" stuff other people have mentioned here. But my movie pet peeve is people in a scene handling mugs of liquid, usually coffee or tea, in a careless way that CLEARLY shows they are empty. It pulls me right out of the scene and reminds me I'm watching a movie. And I've seen this everywhere, including in very high-class high-budget high-quality detail-oriented films! Can't they at least put water in the mugs, to create authentic movements?

Along with this goes the "actor raises mug to mouth and takes an obviously fake sip" thing. It's a sip, they're not asking you to chug. And even if there are good reasons for having no liquid in the cup (messing up makeup, whatever), why can't the actor even TRY? I guarantee you I can take a sip from an empty mug and make it look fairly real. So why can't even A-list actors?

That this thing is top 50 on IMDB annoys me.

What always slays me is when a leading character drives to his destination, which is in the center of a city, and when he arrives there there's an empty parking space just waiting for him. Seldom happens in real life.

I hate the way teenagers in most movies and shows are depicted, in almost every way possible.
1.Not swearing at all (I understand this for the TV censors, but Superbad is the closest i've seen to how a lot of teens actually talk)
2.always having money and no job. And to add to that one... when they're supposed to live in a "moderate" or "middle class" neighbourhood, and they live in a damn mansion and their room is as big as my living room!
3.When teenagers are depicted as a group as stupid, horny, or drunk ALL THE TIME.
4.Christian stereotypes in movies... I hate the way the Christian character always has to be a crazy Bible thumper who thinks even kissing a boy is a sin. Unless it's done for the comic effect or something, it's just dumb. Same with how the "poor" girl or whatever from the wrong side of town is always a slut etc. Or the metalhead kid is suicidal.

When people are like "Oh, okay, i just need to go to the next page of this website" or "Let;s check out her profile" or whatever, and then they TYPE like a madman. Hello, it's called a mouse?

I had another one that applied generally to more movies but I forget. Great thread though, some of these are so funny and SOOO true!

OH and... in the Dark Knight... when does the Joker find the time to reapply his makeup? It flakes off him at least 5 different times, yet when they show him in a new scene, he's got fresh makeup on. Ditto with any character in a movie wearing makeup I suppose, especially women.

computer beep noises.

computers don't go beep since the 90s (at least).

it's even more irritating in recent sci-fi movies : when they design crazy amazing stuff anticipating how the future computers will be (e.g. in minority report) and yet you hear beeps & blips & buzzes.

I hate when someone is at a restaurant or bar or something, often meeting someone else, then they order food or drink, but leave before it even comes out.

when movies conveniently put black people in random scenes to rule out any allegations of them being racist.

when movies have gay characters they're never manly gay, always the overly feminine flamboyant ones for comedic effect.

when bad@$$ scenes are occurring on-screen, the main character will succeed at everything once he believes in himself, nothing can go wrong and it never does.

always at the end of family movies, one buddy character always says something cringe-inducing which prompts laughter from the main characters.

movies which involve governmental figures taking over the town or demonising a building to rebuild another stock exchange or something big and important are always made out to be evil. Even though demolishing some kind of sentimental store owned by the main characters isn't really that harsh.

bad guys in movies cant be just bad, they have to go ultra evil and do something truly despicable to push the main character over the edge and make the audience think to themselves "well that's just wrong".

oh and this thread rocks!!

"im beautiful your not" - me
"you're* " - you

That, or when the characters dine at a restaurant, and get up and leave without paying, without even a "cut" in time during which they could have paid but we just weren't shown it.
