Does it freak anyone else out?

When you look at a movie like Jason X today, with it's cyborg Jason and Android chick fighting Jason with kung fu skills, you can't help but think to yourself "man, they'd never make a movie like that today" and that's what's kinda mind blowing if you think about it, the culture of the early 2000's has become almost as retro as the early 90's or early 80's.

Being the age that I am (25) I can't remember the early 90's or the early 80's, but I can certainly remember the early 2000's and it makes me feel my age to see how things are completely different today.

Yeah I kinda agree, I was thinking this movie has kind of an 80s feel to it. Things didn't seem to change as rapidly from the 80s to the early 2000s as compared today. I was wondering if a movie like this could be made today and I don't think so.

They still make movies like this, they just don't go to theater anymore. They're straight to home video, digital, pay per view, vod, etc.

Or good-bad films, sometimes knowingly written to be campy, as Jason X was.

The filmmakers knew it was absurd.

That makes sense because this movie was definitely over the top when they set the movie way into the future and set it on a spaceship. LOL

They opening tagline should've been "Friday the 13th IN SPACE!" LOL

Not in the US maybe, but in Japan they make tons of movies like this.
