Did Jason X never happened?

After Freddy vs Jason or ignore Jason X?

reply

[deleted]

Jason X happens after Freddy vs Jason. Even the stuff at the beginning when he gets frozen was in 2010.

reply

^exactly. Jason X happens after Freddy vs Jason, but it would have been better to have it set after a Freddy vs Jason vs Pinhead movie, darn it. :)

Though when I give the series a rewatch I'm doing it in order of release cos I like how JVF ends.

reply

I just pretend this movie never happened and that Freddy vs Jason was the last time we see Jason. And of course the remake doesn't count because it's not set in the same timeline/continuity.

It's easy to forget Jason X esp. since it was the last of the series. In my mind, Freddy Vs Jason is part 10. So Jason goes to hell, he's resurrected by Freddy, they fight, and then he emerges from the lake at the end holding Freddy's head and that's the last we see of him. No space, no Uber Jason, nothing. Just Jason walking out of the lake with Freddy's head.

Only people with money say that money doesn't matter.

Pretending this movie never happened methinks is a shame cos it is filled to the brim with classic Jason kills and they never have Jason doing anything unJasony - but each to his/her own I guess 💀 - where that Jason smilie go 😬

reply

lol "unJasony"

Ignore Jason X but keep Jason Goes to Hell...WTF?

Jason Goes to Hell isn't one of my favorites but it's nowhere near as bad as Jason X. One thing I can give to JGTH is that it's not campy in the slightest and tries to be serious. But more so it has great special effects and gore especially in the unrated version. So I'll give it that.

Jason X is terrible all the way around. The only thing good about it is Kane. But that doesn't save the movie.

reply

I'm the complete opposite. I pretend Freddy Vs. Jason never existed. That movie is such a *beep* of a film and has almost no sense of humor.

At least Jason X knows it's a joke.

reply

I prefer to think of Jason X as an alternate timeline. It's this stand alone story that has no affect on anything that came before or after it.

reply

But they said that Jason has never been killed. Jason was killed in "Jason Goes to Hell" and was sent back to Earth by Freddy in "Freddy vs. Jason". (Heck, if we count in the Paramount movies, Jason was killed in parts 4, 6, and 7.)

reply

Why? Jason X is in the future. If anything you kinda need FvJ to make sense of why Jason is walking around in Jason X.

reply

Dude what are you talking about?? I never said anything about ignoring Freddy Vs Jason.
I said that I ignore Jason X since it's in the future it doesn't matter to me. It's easier to ignore whereas if you like the Child's Play series but hate Seed of Chucky, You can't really ignore it since it has a sequel after it that finally tried to be a horror movie again. So if I were to have a Chucky marathon it'd be lame to just skip the 5th movie to go to the 6th but Seed is such a piece of crap it's hard to watch.

But Alien 4 and Jason X all put an end to the franchises and you can just ignore them and watch all the ones before them.

Dude who cares? It's just a message board.

I consider the remake and Jason X happened all in the same timeline. It goes like this...
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8
9 JGTH
11 FVJ
12 Remake
10 Jason X

The next remake, in my opinion should be the LAST Jason film and should squeeze between the first remake and Jason X so we see the origins of him being captured alive. Also my reason it should be the last because it'll be the 13th film of Friday the 13th.

After seeing the 2009 Star Trek, X-Men Days of Future Past, and the trailer of Terminator Genisys, your statement became invalid.

X-Men: Days of Future Past and Terminator Genisys are not remakes, and I like to think the Friday the 13th films take place in a universe in which time travel and alternate timelines do not exist.

To me, there's the Friday the 13th series and then there's Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason. It's REALLY hard to fit any of those movies in with the Friday the 13th continuity, especially Jason Goes to Hell. Besides having Jason, a scene at Crystal Lake and mentioning Pamela Voorhees and Jason's drowning, it really didn't try very hard to fit into that world. Jason had never hopped from body to body and was never being hunted by Creighton Duke. It's very hard to buy that he was a body hopping demon that had never hopped from body to body before, how would Creighton know that? And why wouldn't he have found another body after The Final Chapter?

In Jason X, they no longer seemed to be going for the zombie thing or the demon thing, he appeared to simply be a hulking, deformed serial killer again. When his face is shown, it looked a lot closer to The Final Chapter than anything after Jason Lives. He also no longer appears to be zombified in Freddy vs. Jason.

Each film in the original series mentioned the previous film and explained how Jason came back. In Jason Lives he was struck by lightning, in The New Blood Tina accidentally released him with her telekinetic powers and in Jason Takes Manhattan he was electrocuted and brought back to life again. There's no mention of where he came from in any of the following films or how he came back. If you can at least figure out how he got from Manhattan (where he was practically melted by chemicals) and back to Crystal Lake in Freddy vs. Jason, then Jason X might make sense too. But Jason Goes to Hell really has no place in the series.

Bit late now but I view the F13 franchise like this:

Original Series Timeline Order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 JGTH, 11 FVJ, .... , 10 Jason X.
(the ... should have been an awesome FVJ vs Pinhead movie)

Original Series Watch Order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 JGTH, 10 Jason X, 11 FVJ
(watching X before FVJ cos that's the order they were made and FVJ is the better movie to end on)

New Series: 2009 Remake.
(new series with a new Jason, no link to the original series)

"Did Jason X never happened?"

English?

I like to consider Jason X a sequel to Jason Takes Manhattan, and totally ignore Jason Goes To Hell and Freddy VS Jason. The reason for this is because those 2 movies are utter crap, in my opinion. Jason Goes To Hell's body jumping was just ridiculous and the crossover aspect in Freddy VS Jason is just lame to me. The way I connect Jason X to Manhattan is simple: After the events in the New York sewers, Sean and Rennie inform the police of what took place. The police decide to investigate, and discover Jason in the sewer unresponsive. They decide the best option is to just transfer his body back to Crystal Lake for research purposes. Jason's ability to regenerate heals his wounds from the toxic waste and he starts to gain strength while being held captive. Rowan decides the only option is to keep him locked up until they can decide what to do with him. The events of Jason X begin.
