Truth Behind the Titans

I thought this was an interesting truth/fiction article on Remember the Titans. Even though movies are "based on a true story" they all take a lot of liberties. Either way, the movie is still enjoyable even if some of the stuff really didn't happen.

From his home in Alexandria, Va., Greg Paspatis watched the transformation of the former coach with rising outrage. Paspatis went to T.C., as it's known around the Beltway, and was a kicker on Boone's 1977 team. That was a few years after the events depicted in Remember the Titans took place, and a season before Boone left his coaching job in disgrace following a player mutiny, the very public defection of several assistants, and accusations of verbal and physical abuse.

This article goes into the real story better. Or at least the true story from Greg Paspatis point of view.

Great article! Thank you for posting it.

I think the author's reply to one comment is spot-on:

"If the facts aren’t good enough for your story, why not just call it “Remember the Thetans” or some other made-up name rather than try to mislead people? I think the movie’s fine, but Herman Boone has made millions of dollars misleading people about what he stood for and what he really did at T.C. Williams."
