Chrono Trigger has some Nostradamus influence.

The 1999 A.D. when Lavos comes out of the Earth and makes the sky rain fire. Magus was based off the name Mabus.

Yeah, I love this game and it's intersting how they pull in real life predictions or whatever and try to create a story off of it.

I always thought his name was based off magic/mage, since he a powerful spellcaster.

yeah the 1999 thing was the first that popped into my head

1999 was supposed to be the year of apocalypse

also magus wanst based of mabus, maybe he was aswell

but magus was mainly based of the persian myth Magus, he supposly was a power mage/wizzard ( similair to magus's roll in CT )

Are you sure that is an actual Nostradamus prophecy?

I thought the 99 thing was an intresting choice considering all the computers were supposed to crash that year. But I doubt Magus was based off of Mabus. Mabus is supposed to be sort of the Anti-Christ figure, Magus was just a poor lad searching for his sister and wanting revenge on the creature

And does anyone besides me feel The Kingdom of Zeal, the magical floating land was based off of Atlantis?
