Alright, when you fight Lavos, you fight all the battle patterns of different bosses that Lavos acquired over time while in his nesting phase. One of the patterns he uses is from the Black Tyrano/Azala battle. However, Black Tyrano/Azala are fought and destroyed BEFORE Lavos even lands on the planet. So how could Lavos know that pattern when he logically couldn't have obtained the data from that battle? Plothole?
Well I guess to fix this plothole thing...we could use the theory of evolution in that there was genetic material which Lavos obtained by taking the gene extractions from other creatures. Thus, inside perhaps a bird or reptile which Lavos took, the creature contained the magic potents of it's ancestor and could add it to the data.
Hey if a kid, a frog, a tomboyish princess, a girl genius, a robot, and a cavewoman could defeat Lavos then....it could work right?

Tyrano hadn't died until 600 A.d [Giant's claw]. Azala was just a regular reptite that was further evolved..since lavos controls evolution...its possible that he couldve obtained his pattern via the other little reptites.
Which is not the case at all. Azala dies when Lavos crashes to the planet. While it is clear in the narrative that Lavos manipulated the development of life on the planet, after he landed there. It is never suggested or implied Lavos could had any control over time, so no Lavos had nothing to with the evolution of the Reptites.
An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God.
1) Lavos manipulates evolution...chrono cross states that the human mind abnormally increased 3 times its size over its evolution b ecause of its contact with Lavos...
2) its possible that Lavos coudl have stored reptite DNA and manipulated that in order to mimic azala's attack pattern < i dont see why he couldnt do this.
And Tyrano was already explained in my earlier post.
Or on the other hand...it could just be a mistake on the squaresoft's part.

Zechs237 Not too sounds mean or anything, this is a discussion of Chrono TRIGGER, not Chrono CROSS, lets not drag that pathetic excuse for a sequel into the story of Chrono Trigger. Frankly, i dont even consider it existed. Well, back to topic, good point that the Tyranno never died until 600 AD, and well, Azala is only a normal Reptite. and it could be a mistake.... ^^

^You can hate chrono cross if you want, i have no problem with that. But you cant throw out the sequel just because you dont like it...its still a sequel and part of the Chrono Trigger universe. The anime scenes in the psx version of Chrono Trigger confirms that CC was indeed a true sequel. (the corruption of the masamune, the kid baby..etc.)
"Lavos displays some strange behavior. If the travelers defeat the shell and warp into the past, the shell is still defeated. A strange blue aura surrounds Lavos during the Ocean Palace disaster and the final battle. Lavos Core is able to open time warps to different eras. Lavos also appears to have knowledge of the future; during the final battle it emulate the fighting techniques of Guardian, which exists in 2300 AD. A possible explanation is that Lavos exists within a pocket dimension, or "time bubble," which transcends time.
When Lavos arrived on earth in 65 million BC, it created a pocket dimension separate from normal space time, existing on the time-error axis. A wormhole connects the pocket dimension to every time period.
Lavos is not actually physically present within the earth. The wormhole aperture is located at the earth's core, giving Lavos access to the planet's energy and lifeforms. During the Day of Lavos or the Ocean Palace disaster, the wormhole ascends to the surface, causing a dimensional disturbance. The wormhole offers an uninterrupted view of the pocket dimension, creating the illusion of Lavos' presence.
If one approaches Lavos, and passes through the wormhole, the interior of the pocket dimension has appearance of the blue aura which surrounds Lavos. During the Ocean Palace Disaster, Queen Zeal, Magus and the others warp into the pocket dimension. During the final battle, Crono battles Lavos in the pocket dimension.
Lavos' core is able to open time warps to different times, because it is connected to those eras through the wormhole. The aperture of the wormhole gives a distorted view of the time period being accessed. Lavos is also able to survey the entire timeline and would have knowledge of, for example, Guardian's fighting style.
After* Lavos dies, the pocket dimension no longer connects to space-time, but the past* Lavos still exists, and would be theoretically accessible if a time traveler accessed it from an earlier* time-error then that at which Lavos was defeated, but it is generally not possible to travel to a lower time-error.
This then raises the question of why Lavos chose to ascend in 1999 AD. if it had the ability to ascend at any time. The reason for this can be inferred from Lavos' original purpose."
if we are to assume that Lavos' purpose is to collect DNA from the Earth and reproduce even more stronger offspring. Then we assume that Lavos opened up a wormhole and collected DNA and information from all the time before it arrived. Which might explain why Lavos knew of Azala/black tyrano even though it occured before the arrival of Lavos.
