I mean if people left his gold alone would he just mind his own business?
He gives people a chance to live, if they just hand it over.
I realize he is evil and a spawn of hell and all that but what exactly does he want?

He enjoys killing, chasing his gold is just an excuse. Even after he got all his gold back he remained in the hood up to no good. He went on, capturing women to use as sex slaves. He'll kill anyone around him, stealing his gold just gets his attention on you.
