Andrea's Scuba Accident
You know you've seen a good movie when you are haunted by an image that you didn't even see. When I first read the synopsis of this film, I was worried how the "death scene" would be handled, thinking it would be grusome to watch someone drown in a scuba accident. But this movie did not contain a scene like that. What it did was even more horrifying by suggesting through other characters what happened. Most haunting was the mother's description of how Andrea's hands were scraped up and fingernails were missing. That clue indicates that Andrea was wildly clawing at the cave in an attempt to save himself when the air in his tank was running low. Just thinking about the panic and terror he experienced is so terrifying and tragic, and more compelling than an enactment.
