Comparison to 1971 Hodge's original version
Hodges' version was fine example of crime thrillers in British production from the seventies. Michael Caine was excellent in this low-budget movie full of sex and violence and it is a cult classic today.
Hollywood decided to create a new version starring Sylvester Stallone and stick to the original story. The result is a big disappointment for the fans of the original, as well as to the critics.
