Avatar similiarities

I was watching Avatar the other day. I saw it in the cinema, but since, I've played this game for the first time. The second time I saw it, I noticed the game in it.

Most obviously is the huge similitary of Eywa to the Lifestream. A stream flowing within the planet that has unbias control over life and death in the world, but ultimately fights back against the threat (Meteor & the Skypeople)

Also, the company, I can't remember there name, reminded me a lot of Shinra. A company destroying the planet to extract its inside for profit, and is hated by the natives of the land.

Finally, not as obvious, Jake reminded me a lot of Cloud. The cocky, strong, hard-on-the-outside-but-loving-on-the-inside hero of the day.

I also know that James Cameron is a huge fan of anime and the likes, which I strongly imagine includes Final Fantasy.

Food for thought. Any comments?

^ Agreed.

For most people, death comes at the end of their lives

avatar is the conglomeration of just about everything that already was. Dances with wolves + Pocahontas, and yes some could argue themes from world of warcraft, ffVII, smurfs, all of those even. that's basically what avatar is.

not to bash the movie; i thought it was a great movie. but it is what it is.

Circle down to circle together with this living man I am one who descends; I mean to show him Hell

It sounds to me, from what I've heard about Avatar, that the story pre-dates FFVII.
