I love this show and watch the re-runs on Sky3; also very tempted by DVDs...

Just wondering if anyone could recommend anything similar to get into? Possibly in book form?

I adore the whole adventure mixed with history and romance sort of genre, but obviously its hard to find in bookshops as that is not a shelf header!

Hope someone can help. Thank you.

The books I can think of are:

Atlantis by David Gibbins, The novels of the Indiana Jones series, The novelisation of The Mummy and maybe The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

Films:

The Mummy, Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider are all that come to mind but I know there are others.

If you could do what I can do, then you'd do it too, but you can't - Casanova

Thank you. I've seen all the films (excellent choices!) and read The Historian, but not the others so I'll definitely check them out...

You may also want to check out Alex Archer's new series "Rogue Angel". The heroine reminds me quite a bit of Sydney.

Yes! Someone else mentioned this series to me and I have the first book on order!

Thank you very much!

You're welcome! I bought the book because it sounded like it would be very...um.."Relic Huntery" (Can that be an adjective now?) Besides the abundance of guns and the lack of sidekick, it was very much that type of book.

I loved this show, and also loved "She Spies."

Other TV shows like maybe Adventure Inc.? Well, it's not really the same but I get a Relic Hunter-y vibe from it. I think it's out on DVD, you might have to do some digging though... Online is the safest choice.

similar light-hearted and fun adventure series, yes

I think Adventure Inc was made by the same outfit which was called Fireworks Entertainment at the time. They eventually went under or were bought out or something like that. I believe they were behind several other shows, Queen of Swords and a few others. One of the fellows at the top, Jay Firestone, then went on to start a new company Prodigy Pictures, which created a show called Dark Matter, a scifi show that went for three seasons. I really liked Dark Matter and actually I think everything Jay Firestone was involved with... he's probably my spirit guide. Anyway, if you liked Relic Hunter, you might look for some of these other shows as I think they have a similar quirky-but-homey vibe. IMO all of his shows were all about the fun.
