Why do adults judge a kids movie by adult standards. I just watched it with my son and while it wasn't fantastic and deep it was a cute kids' ghost story. Why does it need to bne more. We also enjoyed Sarah Landon and the Paranormal Hour and that is also rated very low but we enjoyed it. People have become waaay too overcritical and anal about movies.

I agree with you, LovecraftLass. I'm a boomer, just watched this on Amazon Prime, and got tears in my eyes. I'll encourage my relatively hardened offspring and her husbamd to watch, too.
By the way, I love watching the animated "Tarzan" with my granddaughter, too. I especially like the DVD extras on the music stuff. You might find it entertaining, too.

Just saw this movie. I too am a "Boomer" and I enjoyed it for what it was-- a "Goosebumps" kind of older child/young adult ghost story. I remember reading Jane Emily (by Patricia Clapp) as a kid. It probably wouldn't have any effect on me now, but I remember being seriously frightened by it then. And, all these years later, I think of the book every time I see a silver reflecting ball. That's an impact.

Not a great movie by any means, but was cool to see Elisha in an early role and alot of it was well done. Great setting, decent story, tolerable acting mostly.
Another decent one to watch along the same lines is "Ghost Cat" with young Ellen Page and that guy from Twin Peaks.
I think too many adults lose the magic of childhood. They get worn down by life, stress, and responsibilities. I like what the Bible says about putting away “childish” things, but continuing to maintain a “childlike” love and awe.
