It's a poor substitute. With it's abysmal writing, hammy acting, and obvious green screens, it just doesn't compare. The effects on OUAT are laughable compared to 10th Kingdom (which was made 14 years ago!). I watch OUAT as a guilty pleasure. But, it is not nearly as good as 10th Kingdom.

OUAT isn't a "substitute" for 10th Kingdom, it's a completely different story. Who gives a sh*t about effects? It's the story and characters that are important.

I think without the influence of 'The Tenth Kingdom', 'Once Upon a Time' wouldn't exist
