Anyone else think that the daugther could of been

cast better? I just don't think she looks like their daughter... I think she should be more attractive. I know it's just a movie but that always bothered me.

i agree

Plus, she sounds like Chucky from 'Rugrats', innit.

It's not the years, honey; it's the mileage.

reply

I'm pretty sure she did the voice for gretchen in Recess

reply

Yep. A decent Actress, but in no way looks like a child spawned from Mel & Lauren Holly. Jessica Alba would have been more realistic, but, I guess they DID want to make her look like an Ugly Duckling transformed into a Swan, even if it didn't really work.

Omg this forum is just so inredibly shallow! I thought that Alexs' casting was unrealistic, not because she was unattractive, but because i though that it was a ittle too much to handle, teh fact tthat she was apparently 15. I looked her up, and she was 17 when she filmed this. Thats what i always hate about movies, the teen characters are always older, always making me feel so stupid for not "looking: like that characterwhen i was that age.

agreed Lulu. The shallowness of some people disgust me

Jessica Alba would have been more realistic...

Wait, what? You seriously think that Alba looks like she could be the child of Gibson and Holly?

Hahahahaha, oh, wow. Yeah, NO. Just... no.

reply

Are you kidding? She's a bad cast because she's not pretty enough for your Hollywood standards? *facepalm*

reply

I agree.

reply

She looked beautiful and believable as their daughter, plus she's a very talent actor which is what should really matter most (in my make-believe ideal world), lol.

reply

I agree... I didn't like the actress that played her much.

reply

Wowwwww.

It's a wonder you people go through the streets every day without your eyes bleeding!

She looks like a NORMAL TEENAGER. She was SUPPOSED to look like that. And while I do agree with the age thing, it's not as big a discrepancy as with movies like High School Musical where people supposedly 17 are 20/21. (Though some are 17 and 18, actually.)

The point is, she was more than likely cast because she was supposed to be pretty enough but not drop-dead gorgeous. She had to be one of those girls, like most fifteen year olds are, who are really insecure.

reply

I liked her. Thank God she wasn't the cliche: a stick-thin "ohhh daddd you are like sooooo uncoooool" yawn, like a Keira Knightley (bless her!).

This lass was normal-sized and normal-looking... hallelujah for sensible casting.

I agree with loveagoodstory!!!

What the f'k has weight got to do with whether she looked like she was a 'normal' teenager or not?

Some teens are naturally 'stick-thin' (as you so kindly put it). I know I was. Didn't matter what I did, I just couldn't put weight on and people had no compunction about commenting unfavourably on it.

'Normal' teens come in all shapes and sizes.

Do the P-I-G-E-O-N

reply

Yes, I know they do. Why would anyone think I didn't?

My point was that Hollywood doesn't portray the average in star-driven films. You'll have to look further into that avenue for yourself if you don't get it.

I was also stick-thin but the insides of my head still work. Ditch the "f'k" childishness.

hm, i liked her other than the fact that i thought she looked older than fifteen

I make money online and YES, it's real. lol e-mail or msg me and ask for the link

reply

thats funny the original poster would say that...her looks are something normal teens should be not like jessica alba because frankly otherwise you would roll your eyes at it for being unrealistic....and the actress that play alex has actually been in the industry for ages!from starting out as the child star in growing pains she has more experience than most out there

reply

i know! the daughter was UGLY! and she didnt look like his daughter at all! that bothered me too! she did not looke 15!

reply

Wow! I guess I'm in the minority here, but the last thing that crossed my mind is that she's ugly. In fact I think she's a very pretty girl.

reply

I thought she was miscast...not because she was ugly or cute...but because she looks nothing like Mel Gibson or Lauren Holly.

Any typical 15 year old teen woulda have been fine with me...as long as she looked like she "matched" the parents.

reply

I have absolutely no problem with her "not looking" like the parents as long as she was a decent actress, which she most definitely was...Compare her to the beyond annoying child actors such as the one in "Thank You For Smoking", (sorry I'm too lazy to look up his name right now)and it becomes easier to suspend disbelief.
