so he knew it was a prank from the beginning???

the trucker said he knew they were in the next room listening sooo why did he even knock on the other door then????

At the time he knocked on it, he didn't know the boys were listening on the other side of the wall. It wasn't until after he was pranked, and put 2 and 2 together, did he realize that they were "listening through the wall." I'm actually watching this movie right now, haha.

It was the phone. They called the manager... The manager called room 17... Rusty nail answered and said everything was ok... A few seconds later, rusty heard the phone ring in room 18... That's how he put two and two together. Up to that point he wasn't quite sure what was going on.
