Why would they leave the Motel?!?
When he calls and says "I thought there wasn't a girl?"
Why would they leave?!? The safest place is to stay and call the police!
That part makes me upset- idk.
They heard Charlotte in the backgound. Rusty Nail had kidnapped Venna's college friend. (That's how he knew their names and that the boys were brothers.) They had to try to rescue her.

While they're on the road after finding the radio in trunk- he then lets em hear that girl he abducted.
But they left motel because he called... That's it.
They freaked out and made a rushed scared decision (which they do a lot), they probably didn't think staying put was safe after all Rusty killed the other guy at the motel so he could get to them (they should've called the police though).
