Based on 'Papa Loved Mama' by Garth Brooks

According to unconfirmed sources this movie is not only influenced by Spielbergs "Duel" but also partly based on the song "Papa Loved Mama" by Garth Brooks.
J.J. Abrams, a long-year fan of Garth, was inspired when he was listening to the song in the nineties. For a movie though it was a little too less of a story. So the furious trucker was kept (wine replaced with Pink Champagne), but the surrounding scenario was altered. Instead having a trucker revenge his cheating wife, the story with the guys playing a prank on a trucker came up. The girl (replacing the wife character) was added to end the movie like in the song...the truck burried in the local motel. Having added a little "Teen-Factor" in the movie (as so successfully done in any Horror Movie nowadays), guaranteed to be a bigger success on the movie-market.
