shareDefinitely a classic, written by Richard Matheson and directed by a young Stephen Spielberg.. I'm sure Joy Ride was paying homage to it a bit
or maybe not lol http://www.amazon.com/Attack-The-Pepperoni-Monsters-ebook/dp/B00C4GFK0 8
If you read the IMDb trivia notes for this movie, regarding the ICE truck, you will see how it's not just inflenced, but definitely elements of homage
They have a Chrysler and in Duel they had a Dodge. I thought that was deliberate to choose the same family of brands. It was a bit of an homage to Duel.
shareThis movie was no doubt heavily influenced by Duel. Definitely a classic and demonstrated what a great director Steven Spielberg would become.
shareI thought 'Duel' was a lot more frightening. I liked the psychological tension when Dennis Weaver stopped at the café and all the truckers were give him a cold stare. Joyride's scary parts aren't quite as realistic.
