What happened to Charlotte?!

The filmmakers provide you with evidence that Rusty Nail has her and then they never seem to discuss it again. It was the entire reason Lewis and Fuller went to the "State Line truck stop" and stripped naked, after all. Anyone have an answer to this?

The police find her tied up in the back of Rusty Nails truck after he runs it through the motel at the end. Then you see her sitting in an ambulance and Leelee Sobieski ' s character is comforting her. Just finished watching it.
