And I'm surprised nobody says anything about that: somebody like Rusty Nail would have never taken the bait in the first place. He would have never ask for a girl in the radio. Psychopaths are cautious and distrustful by nature, and specially somebody like him is the kind of guy who likes to take advantage of the situations and is very metodical, something completely opposite to go to a blind date. It's ridiculous the idea of somebody who's so good ad catching people by surprise, being catched so easily as well. Usually psychopaths flirt random girls in the streets or everywhere they can feel safe, whatever that can mean. Good movie, I liked a lot, but it's on my top five unrealistic films ever.

Not to knock your choice in movies, but this was a pretty awful movie with no endearing qualities whatsoever. You have a solid point tho, on the implausibility factor. I remember passing on this when it came out, just saw it on TV and had nothing else to watch... wish I could have my 1.5 hrs back!

I don't think the goal of this film was to be realistic. No one brings up whether Rusty Nail would or would not fall for such a silly ruse because...who cares? Most of the movie is unrealistic. They weren't going for that so there is no sense in complaining about it. This is a movie you just need to accept and enjoy it for what it is (or not watch it if you're not going to do so, which is your right). ;)

I agree! His first clue it was a prank would have been the fact it was obviously not a female voice! Then what women would have him meet her in a hotel room without meeting her in public first!

My husband gets mad at me when I tear apart things like this in movies. But that's part of the fun I have with movies!

That voice was NOT feminine. It sounded like a man trying to imitate a woman. It didnt sound genuinely feminine. LOL I sure hope you never get a prank call like that lol

He took the bait simply because his desperation and desire for a woman clouded his common sense. It's likely that Rusty had never had a woman in a long time (or maybe ever, outside of forced encounters), so it's not unreasonable that he would act stupidly for this chance.

C'mon. He would be super cautious with a "woman" that broadcast her hotel room number on the CB. Besides, if he's inexperienced with a woman, that's because it was his choice. Truckers can pay for as many women as they want at truck stops all over the country.

We don't know if he's a psychopath. I'm not saying he's completely sane, but he might get a different diagnosis.
