may have scarred my kids for life

Just wondering if anyone has had this happen with their kids...

I have twin 3-year-old boys who absolutely love Thomas - we have enough track to fill a room, pajamas, toys, etc. Well, we made it about half way through the movie, when the story took a Disney-like twist. Many children were (and still are) disturbed by Bambi's mom getting killed in that movie - it slightly affected my boys when they were about a year-and-a-half. In "Thomas and the Magic Railroad," when Diesel 10 starts coming after the Conductor with his huge jaws, one of my sons starting sobbing while the other screamed and looked like he was going to hyperventilate. Needless to say that put a quick end to that movie. At least with Bambi you don't see it happening - here you get to see the only human in Sodor put in extreme danger.

Anyone else have problems with the movie? Thanks.

well my 3 year old wasn't bothered by that scene at all. but he freaked out and started crying when thoaas went off the track, rolled down a hill, and disappeared into a hole.

also, lol about the spoiler warning. Is anybody watching this bag of tripe actually going to say "ah man! you ruined it for me! it would have been so much better if I didn't know what was going to happen"

YES! I have had the exact trouble with the Magic Railroad movie. Same scene and everything. My 2.5 year old son loves the movie (much to my disgust, I unfortunately can recite every single word) however every time Diesel is on the screen, I MUST be sitting with him to give him moral support. He comes to find me and asks me to 'come watch' and hold his hand. He used to make me fast forward the scene with Mr Conductor getting snapped up by 'Pinchy', Diesels claw. Now he has to watch it, with me right next to him. I have asked him if he wants me to turn it off but he insists on watching it... He also loves the scene where Diesel falls off the tracks on the viaduct and into the water/boat below. Ah, I hope he grows out of the fascination he has with this movie.

Although, Mr C. Junior (Michael E. Rodgers) is quite cute, makes it a little easier to watch... hehe

LOL, I think the above poster and I have the same kid!

My son got HOOKED on this film and the Thomas and Friends shows. My wife and I can no longer stand even being in the room when it's on.

The acting is so bad... HORRIBLE really, and I was so grateful when he finally got over being scared of pinchy so I didn't have to ride shotgun through those scenes.

I think one thing that helped, was we got him a Diesel 10 toy train (with the pinchy!) and now I think he likes him alot more.

I was 4 when this film came out and I got so scared by Diesel 10, I missed half the film because i was under the seat, crying like hell.

My sisters were into girl stuff at the time this movie came out. Back at the time, Thomas was my main thing. I use to like this movie when I was young, but ever since I saw "Finding Nemo" three years later and decided to watch this movie one more time, I have to admit, I started hating this movie. My family hated it from the beginning. But now, I hate this movie. It was cute but it wasn't really a Thomas story. It was a ripoff.

Up comes out in theaters May 29, 2009.

My son didn't seem to be scared by it, but I did notice he reacts to that scene, specifically. He gets really into it and yells "OH NOOOOOOO! Oh NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" But he does the same thing when we listen to "The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps" and the bear chases Larry. But I think he would be scared by it if he had those tendencies. The only thing he ever got scared watching was the "Grim Grinning Ghosts" segment of Disneyland Fun, and a couple episodes of Rugrats gave him bad dreams (I think).
