My son likes it, so that's fine by me.

I find it hysterical to see all the negativity about a children's program. My son, who's two, but will be three in about three months loves this movie and asks for it. If it entertains little kids then it's doing it's job. Yeah, I'm not sitting down with a bucket of popcorn to watch it with my wife on a Friday night, but the little guy likes it. So good for Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

Honestly, the whole argument of "it's a kids movie, it doesn't have to be good" is complete bullsh*t! Just because a movie is made for kids doesn't mean it can't be smart, creative, or legitimately entertaining.
This is the sort of movie that assumes all kids are gonna be happy anything that's put in front of them, as long as it's got bright colours and a whimsical tone. Unfortunately that only works for preschoolers. Your son may enjoy it now, but will likely grow to strongly detest it within the next few years if not earlier.
