were they trying to sound hip with the weird names or something?

Torrance, Carver, Cutter, Cliff and Missy (not that weird, but still), and the Clovers' were awful: Isis, Lava, LaFred, Jenelope?

Casey, Courtney, Whitney, and Aaron were the only normal ones.

I suppose Sparky Pulaski's (or whatever) was supposed to be weird, though, lol.

the writer of this "movie" was a mentally challenged ape with herpes.

The "herpes" part sounds funny to you because you're 12. But it's unnecessary and makes no sense. Learn how to write comedy.

okay, how about this: you sound like an uptight hillbilly whose profile pic looks like someone who has bad breath....and herpes.

is that better?

First, lol I didn't grow up in LA. This movie is set in the greater LA Metro area.

If you have seen the movie LA Story, one of the querks of a few SoCal citizens is that they invent unique ways of spelling out their names. Obvouly this was filmed several years later and it might be that we are witnessing the names of their kids, the next generation.

reply

Actually, the movie takes place in San Diego...

All of those are legitimate names though. If you see here http://www.babynames.com/name/TORRANCE It tells you that Torrance was at the height of its popularity in 1973. Now mind you it only ranked at 713....but still. It did exist. Cliff is a short form Clifford. That name is more popular than Torrance. Missy was a pretty big name in the 70s if I'm not mistaken. As for the Clovers...I don't want this to come off as racist...but they were very black sounding. I hear a lot of names like LaToya, LaKisha, Shaniqua, in the black community and I think that's what the filmmakers were going for.

I actually know an Isis and I'm from a small town in B.C Canada. So it's not that unusual a name.

reply

Isis is the name of the egyptian goddess of the dead, I think it is more common in populations with egyptian descent or families of history buffs although to be honest it is a pretty popular pet name.

Its something you'll get used to a mental mind *beep* can be nice!

Torrance was named after torrence high school in california. Buffy the vampire slayer and the original beverly hills 90210 were filmed there. I think this movie was supposed to film there to but couldn't.

reply

The lead in the second BIO film was a clone of Torrance called Whittier, also a city in Southern California.

That is my hometown...

Yeah, I didn't get the names either. Especially Carver and Cutter, WTF? And "Torrance" sounds too much like "Toros".

reply

Who was 'Cutter'? I don't remember a character with that name.

reply

Cutter was the little girl who "beat up" Whitely, lol. I loved that little girl. It might have been the kid's last name. Some people get nicknames using their last names.

Carver was carver's last name. Cutter wasn't a name. It's the way the actress delievered her lines. Her little sister cut the line, so obviously she called her a "cutter".
