I think this game is revolutionary in a lot of ways but damn is it repetitive and tedious. Even by N64 standards.

The problem with the N64 is that outside of Nintendo-produced titles, good games were few and far between. You have to cut this one some slack because it was like nothing else we'd seen up to that point. It was Mario in 3D for the first time! It truly was great and deserves its accolades.

In terms of its innovation and gameplay mechanics, sure. But you're telling me you didn't find sections of it repetitive and tedious? And i'm talking way before you're anywhere near the end.

I don't remember feeling that way. I played it quite a long time after it came out, too, so if anything, it had extra hype to get over.
