It's faster-paced and more colorful than Dominion, but what it gains in visuals it loses in characterization and narrative depth. The differing DVD covers for both films sum this up: The Beginning shows Scorupco's "scary" demon face, whereas Dominion features a profile of Merrin kissing his Rosary. Thematically speaking, two very different films.
