Swimming Pool Symbolism

There are two swimming pools that feature prominently in the film. Gal's pool at his Villa (which is damaged by a boulder, emptied, then restored), with plenty of implications. Then there is the pool adjacent to the bank vaults, which is used for the heist. Rather than a coincidence, this is clearly a thematic device which is probably symbolic in nature. Any thoughts?

I don't know, but both "pools" are related to death. Ben Kingsley's character gets burried under the swimming pool. And during the heist, a person's ashes gets released in the water.

Hmm....that's true.
